i have Ubuntu fiesty fawn too, it took about 10 mins to boot from CD drive on my laptop and about 30 mins to install. Could u have a faulty cd? There is a cd test on the live cd you can use, and i have 2 copies of it it you need one. Also, it is briliant when it  installs a it does all the partitioning for you and asks all the right questions.

It's a fairly old laptop- less than 1Ghz I think, and the CD drive
probably isn't too fast, but none the less- it shouldn't take anything
like this long.

Also, is it ever going to ask me questions about where to install it or
anything? If not, where is it installing itself?
