Evolution is a gnome app so it won't be part of the system by default. You won't have much joy installing a kde desktop over a gnome one. Guess you'd need to save all the .xxxx directories in your home directory, do a complete install of kubuntu and then put the .xxxx directories back, see what works and/or import things like email to thunderbird/kmail or whatever. You may be able to download and install evolution from the repositories for kubuntu, but I'm not sure about that. The dual boot problem is probably because the install hasn't gotten as far as intsalling the bootloader, grub or whatever. A successful install should detect windows and sort this out. If you are doing ubuntu to ubuntu or kubuntu to kubuntu I would still recomend saving everything in /home, doing an install and then putting /home stuff back. If you use a live disc you should find you old system under /mnt as /mnt/sdaN or similar. You'll probably need to mount it by hand from the command line ("mount /mnt/sda6" kind of thing). A portable hard drive is useful if you have one to hand.
