It should recheck after a few seconds and then (amazingly!) it can find the disk. Have you tried creating the project, selecting burn.. without inserting the blank disk first? That may help to decide if that is the issue. The second thing I can think of is that for some reason the burner doesn't like the blank disks you have. If possible, it would be an idea to try a different make - just to see. The third thing would depend on the version of (K)Ubuntu you have. In 7.04, with certain cd/dvd drives, there is a small, but annoying bug. As a test, what happens if you put a data dvd (the sort of thing you get from a magazine for example) into the drive? It should, after a few seconds, appear on your desktop and offer the chance to open the disk in a new window or whatever. If that doesn't happen, then you would be likely to have the bug I mentioned affecting you. I don't think it affects burning cds - but it may do. I do have a fix for the bug mentioned if you are affected - it seems to only be certain cd/dvd drives which get the issue (it is HAL related ) Mark -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
