Hi Grant Thanks for that but I think I am getting out of my depth here. /etc/groups on Ubuntu does not contain a group netdev, on SabayonLinux the group exists but I (well "sabayonuser") am not a member. I will do some more homework and in any case bring along the machine. Thanks again, will keep studying.
