[LUG] Linux based Kiosk

Hi folks,

Sorry I haven't been posting in a while, I have been very busy with
family and work life. Anyway...

Gemini FM are going to be at this years Devon County Show. I wasn't
sure what the IT requirements were until today. It seems that they want
a couple of PCs so visitors can browse the Gemini FM web site.

It turns out that getting a connection shouldn't be a problem.
According to my boss, BT can provide a phone line out there (I was
surprised to hear this) and they can also provide an ADSL connection.
What did spring to mind though is that the ADSL connection we would use
would connect straight into the company network (the company run
something along the lines of an ISP for staff/small company sites).
Rather than risk security issues with running Windows 2000 (the PCs are
P3-667's) I figured Linux would be the better option.

Now I was wondering if anyone knows of a good Linux kiosk solution?

I have had a browse of Google but can't seem to find anything that fits
the bill.

I'm looking for something that would offer a simple GUI interface (Xfce
maybe, or FVWM2) and a locked down browser (I have seen Opera has a
Kiosk mode) that will not have an address bar.

I'm thinking of implementing a firewall/proxy server to go between these
two PCs and the ADSL connection just to make sure only web traffic gets
through.

I have until May but I thought it would be good to start looking at
these things now so I can put them to my boss so we don't have to go
down the potentially insecure Windows route.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Ta,

Rob
