I knocked the RAID off and no longer get the "not a valid block device" message. I could then mount the drive but for some reason the folder I want to access, although showing up, sends my computer into sulk mode when I click on it (I can access other files on it OK). The particular folder seems to come up as r-x only and others are rwx. I don't know why this is as I've mounted it rw. The folder in question is the "My Music" folder in windows that I shifted some time ago to a FAT32 partition so that both OSes could use it, would this have anything to do with it? Probably related to the above - I think my HDD has some dodgy sectors on it. Windows no longer boots (no biggie I know), but I would like to access some bits of it to back up stuff. Anyone know of a good HDD checker that I can run across the complete physical disk without destroying any data already on it?
