[LUG] Using X with a projector?

Hi all,

Just putting this out in case anyone has had similar experiences... Basically, I'm
using a College laptop (Dell Latitude C640) and frequently need to connect a
projector to the VGA port on the back. The laptop has 3 modes of graphical
operation: LCD only; LCD & VGA; VGA only. When I connect everything up and use "LCD
& VGA" mode, the picture on the LCD is as per normal but the picture from the
projector is missing the right-most 80pixels or so (it shows everything bar
whatever's on the right-most 1" of the LCD). When I switch to "VGA only" mode,
everything is running nicely.

I'm pretty certain this is a hardware issue as it does the same in Everyone's
Favourite OS(tm), but I was wondering if anyone knew of a "modeline" that could
counter this? Bear in mind that I'm really not sure what the modelines actually do
since I've never had to use them, I've just seen that they are used when creating
"non-standard" resolutions for widescreens, etc.

Cheers.
Grant.
