Sounds like the GNOME Screen resolution tool, which is kind of
"cosmetic" as far as I can tell.

I think you need to check "VertRefresh" setting in the file
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4, and if needs be set the upper limit on the range
to 60.

You want to be reasonably comfortable editting files (or at least
copying  the old copy you'll remember to make back in place!) outside of
the graphical interface (ctrl-alt-F1 is your friend).

You'll need to restart X, which I usually do with "/etc/init.d/gdm
restart" (although SuSE might have a different display manager utils
(replace "gdm" with "xdm"/"kdm" as applicable), but can be done by
logging out and selecting menu options in some of the display managers.

Yast almost certainly has a really good graphical tool for doing this,
but I've no idea what it is.


AFAIK Suse 10.0 uses X.org 6.8.2 not XF86. That said I believe the config
file isn't that much different. Others here will jump all over me if I'm wrong
about the latter.
