[LUG] Settings for internet at the school

Hi

What did mark type on my linux box so it could connect to the internet, it 
seems to think it's ip address is 10.3.40.212.  as a result its not getting 
it's ip from the router for my adsl.

How do i get it back to what it should be.

Out of interest as I am using this computer as a server i don't mind giving it 
a static ip e.g 10.0.0.8 or something as long as it can access the internet.
