Re: [LUG] XINE v Mandrake 9.0

Hi Keith,

I've just done a full re-install on the mistaken logic that the last
three times it all worked "out of the box" so it would this time..
wrong! I installed xinelib-devel and hdparm as sine-check complained
thefirst time because they weren't there and it couldn't do a proper
job.

xine-check
Please be patient, this script may take a while to run...
[ good ] you're using Linux, doing specific tests
[ good ] looks like you have a /proc filesystem mounted.
[ good ] You seem to have a reasonable kernel version (2.4.19-16mdk)
[ good ] intel compatible processor, checking MTRR support
[ good ] you have MTRR support and there are some ranges set.
[ good ] found the player at /usr/bin/xine
[ good ] /usr/bin/xine is in your PATH
[ good ] found /usr/bin/xine-config in your PATH
[ good ] plugin directory /usr/lib/xine/plugins exists.
[ good ] found input plugins
[ good ] found demux plugins
[ good ] found decoder plugins
[ good ] found video_out plugins
[ good ] found audio_out plugins
[ good ] skin directory /usr/share/xine/skins exists.
[ good ] found logo in /usr/share/xine/skins
[ good ] I even found some skins.
[ good ] /dev/cdrom points to
/dev/cdroms/../ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd
[ good ] /dev/dvd points to /dev/ide/host0/bus1/target1/lun0/cd
[ good ] DMA is enabled for your DVD drive
[ good ] found xvinfo: X-Video Extension version 2.2
[ good ] your Xv extension supports YUV overlays (improves MPEG
performance)
[ good ] your Xv extension supports packed YUV overlays
[ good ] Xv ports: RGBA RGBT RGB2 YUY2 UYVY YV12 I420

Here's a grep of all the xine, mpg, mpeg, dvd and css results. Any
clues?

mpg123-0.59r-16mdk
libdvdnav1-0.1.3-1mdk
libdvdread2-0.9.3-1mdk
libdvdcss2-1.2.4-2
xine-dxr3-0.9.13-3mdk
xine-ui-aa-0.9.13-2mdk
libxine0-0.9.13-3mdk
xine-plugins-0.9.13-3mdk
xine-oss-0.9.13-3mdk
xine-arts-0.9.13-3mdk
xine-aa-0.9.13-3mdk
xine-esd-0.9.13-3mdk
xine-divx4-0.9.13-3plf
libxine0-devel-0.9.13-3mdk
xine-ui-0.9.13-2mdk
xine-alsa-0.9.13-3mdk
xine-dvdnav-0.9.13-1mdk

BTW as a passing interest, what muppet decided that it is illegal to
play DVDs on Linux? Illegal to play my own purchased DVDs on my own
purchased computer?? I don't think so!

Kind regards,

Julian
