Thanks - I think it is all hinting that I should upgrade Redhat from
6.1.

I also had to enable gif support to even get it compiled.

Alas, I tried version 4.01 of Xfree86 and found it has worse support for
my graphics card than 3.3.6 (Serves me right for buying a cheap PC?!).
So I backed the upgrade out.

VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems 5597/5598 VGA (rev
104).

Anyone got this to work with Xfree86 version 4?
