[LUG] Helix Gnome

Well, I've just downloaded the Helix Gnome / HelixCode RPMs from work...

It's actually very very good. Gnome 1.2 (I think) is *vastly* superior to
the one that comes with say, RH6.2. It's a very nice environment to work
in, (even straight post-install), comes with lots of extra themes should
you not like the default one, and is generally pretty funky. The default
window manager is now SawFish (nee SawMill), which appears to be a lot
more stable than Enlightenment ever was.

On the whole it feels quite mac-like, which is pretty good cos I like the
Mac's UI as a whole (apart from two mouse buttons short).

BTW - you'll have to hunt around a bit if you want to actually download
the packages themselves, but they are there. Helixcode by default want
you to use the installer program to download the RPMs, but you can't do
that if you want to download the packages in one place and install on a
different machine.
