Re: [LUG] The great debate - window managers

I like windowmaker but only if I have a huge hi-res monitor to use it on
as the wharf takes up valuable screen real estate in 800x600.

So I use enlightement/e with a minimal gnome-ish theme and gnome apps but
no panel.

I do find some of enlightenments behaviour annoying but I think thats
because I haven't spent much/any time configuring it - it is
super-configurable so when I find out how to get it the way I want (its
currently the closest wm to what I want) I'll be laughing.

I usually just have a bunch of xterms sshing to my networked boxes (well
box until I get my sparc up and running and my mac back from ealing), with
several emacs sessions (one for perl, a couple for c) and netscape and
staroffice running in dedicated desktops.

I imagine most people use a desktop for a task and all the tools it uses,
ie a perl project will have an xterm and emacs, while a c project will
have a couple of xterms and a couple of emacs and some documentation,
while big heavy apps like StarOffice and Netscape have their own desktop.

LAUNCELOT: No, it's too perilous.
