I recently had some problems with using Vivaldi and issues with video. I discovered it was using a lot of resources and was causing a conflict. So I have been doing some tests. I was recommended to use Firefox which I have been doing but was frustrated - the browser should work. But it doesn't. It caused problems on a different laptop running Ubuntu and a MacBook. I went onto the forums to try to find out why and discovered the problem. It seems that to keep your browsing 'secret' it opens a new instance of the browser, so whilst they look like tabs they are much more than that. When I closed vivaldi running about 10 tabs my laptop calmed down.
Not sure if this helps anyone and whether this is strictly correct but hopefully someone with the tech knowledge can explain it better.
