Perhaps I should invest before Armageddon occurs. I still have a solar powered scientific calculator from my days as a Maths student (pre-1990). I might even learn how to program it properly after Armageddon; who needs slide rules? Prior to that I had a Sinclair Radionics Calculator made from a kit, but I think I actually used a smaller mass produced calculator, the shame. I welcome the decline in the proliferation of devices, I can imagine very soon people will have just their phone, and very little else (I use to have alarm clock, calculator, radio - the Nokia Communicator was my way of avoiding a laptop for a long time). The first person to find a way to do tickets/money transactions from a phone once the battery dies is rich (or ever lasting batteries), although I think this is more procedural than technical challenge, since most tills have electricity, and most vendors would be happy to share enough to take your cash. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG https://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/listfaq
