Re: [LUG] Single Board Computers

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I went and costed some of the boards out and then found an Intel NUC for £100 on ebay. Seems the best way to go?

You could do worse than a Raspberry Pi to be honest .. cheap, HDMI graphics and a modest spec if you're not doing anything onerous. Storage could be an issue though .. I've honestly not found any SBCs that have a lot of RAM and typically poor storage options because they're designed for embedded use. Although, if you pair it with a NAS drive, you have a lot of options there... Of course, by that time you're into the realm of a cheap laptop so .. YMMV.

Hi

I am looking at using a SBC for my main computer. I hardly use a computer for anything more than email, web browsing, document storage and watching movies. Does anybody use an sbc in this way please? What would folks recommend.

I am about to set up an alternative power project using a push bike to generate power for a blender. We will add in solar panel and wind turbines etc and see what produces more power. Part of using an SBC is to see whether I can then run one from this set-up.

Any thoughts would be great. Many thanks
