It really depends what you want:

1. An event aimed specifically at young people
1a (Code club would be pre coder dojo)
2. An event aimed at all age groups where you can learn from others
3. An event like the above (2) but less emphasis on people teaching
others and more self learning so come along and work on projects with
others.
4. A lug meet which is generally adults only, more of a social thing,
but lug meets can benefit from 3 when you want to demo something and
the pub / bar / cafe environment makes this much harder, downfall of
the torbay lug meets was just this, we started to bring along more
computers and it got rather awkward at the shoreline bar where we were
meeting at.

Coder Dojos are aimed at 13 - 17 year olds, so it may be worth
contacting local code clubs and working with them to provide some
degree of continuity for the YP until they are 18, then after 18,
they can come to events such as 3 or 4.

It may be by the time they are 13 / 14 they want to carry on but
simply need the space, support to do so, it could just be a room,
with somewhere to store the more bulky kit.

There also a running a 'makerspace course'

Like I have said before, whatever you do it is a LOT OF WORK.

Hope this helps

Paul
