I have started to use dd for this sort of thing, command line based, It just works, just make sure you write to the _correct_device_ or you could end up with serious problems. I got fed up of programs like unetbootin (or however you spell it) et -al making a complete mess things. dd if=file.iso of=/dev/device_name Where device_name is found in lsblk (list block devices) last time i used it to make a mint 18.3 iso I used dd if=linuxmint-18.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso of=/dev/sdc You can specify the block size bs= and also get it to display progress.
