Andy is indeed correct, I've used FreeNAS, and it does work, but there
are a lot of quirks if you need/want to do anything outside of the web
interface, although it was last v9 or 10 that I used.

My inclination is to build your own .. all the packages necessary are
trusted stalwarts, and you get to set things up exactly as you please,
and dabble with anything, and you're likely to have a more secure,
flexible system than anything boxed with proprietary drivers/firmware.
