If both drives are connected 247, what about software raid1? Rsync is the great, already mentioned, other idea.

When I think of cloning I think of using DD to copy the contents of each block, but the disk needs to be idle. You can even do it with live CD.

When I want to copy a disk's contents on Linux and keep it in sync I use rsync.

What's on it, what's the copy for?
