Re: [LUG] [OTish] Moving NTFS partitions with Gparted

Hi All,

I partially resolved this by booting into Windows XP (it's a triple boot system) and running EASEUS Partition Master to move/resize the partitions. The WIndows 7 partition is still marked as having errors in GParted though so cannot be changed there. I have run chkdsk / f /r several times, and I have now found out how to view the result - as it reboots automatically with no chance to view the output.

After a reboot back into Windows run the Event Viewer - Start->Run-> eventvwr - and once that's gathered all the data which takes a while, choose Application from the left side bar and scroll through the list to find Wininit. The details of the most recent one should be the chdsk output.

Kind regards,

Julian

Hi All,

I'm trying to make space on my HD to increase the Home partition (in the long run to host VMs). To cut a long story short I want to move an NTFS partition but GParted keeps saying there are errors on it and I have to boot into Windows 7 and 'run chkdsk /f /r and then reboot twice to fix the errors.' It then says I can run 'ntfsresize --bad-sectors' (no idea how to do that). I have run chkdsk and rebooted twice and gparted still won't move the partition. I've uploaded the error details to my website - http://www.kaotic.co.uk/gparted_details.htm and I would be grateful if someone could take a look and advise me what I am supposed to do next.

I have full backups of everything I need.

Kind regards,

Julian
