[LUG] OT: VDSL (Fibre) Modem

OK, so, my exchange is now joining the fibre-enabled world and I’d like to skip the router/modem and make better use of my pfSense firewall by connecting it to the fibre directly – via a VDSL Modem.

OK, I know it’s a BSD device, but it’s almost Linux :)

I’m a big fan of Draytek for their router/modems – but as I’ve seen some good *DSL advise on this forum, I thought I’d see what opinions there were about VDSL modems… any recommendations? Anything to avoid?

If the finances can afford it, I’d like to go for the 80Mb line – basically so that I get a better upload rate whilst I’m working away from home (all too often at the moment) – so I’m guessing that the throughput can be an issue with these things?

Any other advice?

Thanks,

Steve
