[LUG] Putting a password on a file or folder

I have a few folders, eg accounts, which I would like to have protected
by a password. I have had a good look around Google, but not finding
what I am looking for.

There are programs like truecrypt and cryptkeeper but they are not what
I want. Cryptkeeper for example creates a new file and does not seem
to handle the idea of putting a password on a file which already
 exists.

It seemed so simple to me. Change an already existing file by adding a
password. From now on when I click on that file to open it a small
window appears asking for the password. I type in the password and the
file opens and I can treat like any normal file. Without the password I
cannot access it.

Is that too much to ask?

Neil
