Just a guess.
Outlook sends attachments wrapped in its own system.
Difficult for Thunderbird to separate as it shows winmail.dat.
attachment. Seems to depend on how MS Outlook is set up to mail.
This corrupts TB email.
A guess you have incoming MS Outlook emails with attachments sent  as MS
Outlook files
