The dreaded 12.04 LTS > 14.04 LTS upgrade cycle has already begun and amidst the many, many problems I've run into there's only one that is really making me pull my hair out - the annoying thing is it's probably a really simple one, and not something that requires a ton of terminal voodoo (which is probably why I'm stumped). I know tons of you here are using Mint or something else + Cinnamon so I'm asking before I get violent in the root shell and end up breaking everything. Ubuntu 14.04 64bit with Cinnamon 2.2.3 Using the ibus tray indicator for keyboard input type only shows English (US). I've clicked on it repeatedly, gone into keyboard, language and input settings entries respectively in the horrid mess that is Cinnamon's excuse for system settings (why are there so many overlapping and confusing choices?) and manually added English (UK) several times, even going so far as to entirely delete English (US) completely. It completely ignores me, even after logout or reboot and stubbornly refuses to change the keymap, leaving me with US layout. I've checked locale, xorg.conf and all the lower level stuff I'm familiar with and everything is correctly set: the fault is definitely Cinnamon. Googling just yields a bunch of useless crap on this (although it definitely seems to be a known issue). So, Cinnamon with a UK keyboard input please. Anyone?
