Re: [LUG] Pi Jam in Plymouth?

Hi Paul, We all need to help Torbay Libraries. I'm working with www.paigntonneighbourhoodplan.org.uk to make use of Victoria Park Library in Paignton as a Torbay Central Library and Visitor Centre for Singer artefacts displays etc. All the land has been in public use for many years. The mobile library was always parked there. It can provide social housing for a manager's family. What do D & C linux user group members think? All the best, Melvyn

Contacting your local library could be a first step,  libraries are in
touch with each other,  so there could be they know Simon Belshaw, in
Exeter and can contact for information etc.  But also they have lots of
resource that can potentially be used.

In general if you can get hold of

1 x room
2 chairs and tables
3. monitors
    ideally with hdmi input
or dvi input (you then need hdmi to dvi converters - >£5)
For the torbay jam we get about 5,
4 a few keyboards / mice are useful but most people bring their own

then just promote it,  far and wide, maybe do like Torbay have done and
block book for the whole year or six months,  to see how things are
going, if people know about things in advance they can plan ahead

Torbay library has done a really really good job of promoting this,
here, and supporting it,   hopefully it will pay off with regard to
people attending,  but we will just stick at it, and keep going.

We now have pi jams in:-

Crediton
Barnstaple
Exeter
Torbay

Hope this helps

Paul
