Re: [LUG] Protography with Linux

I have been on Flickr since 2006, and Ipernity since earlier this year (over 10,000 picture on Flickr). I have been asked if I would be prepared to run a photograhy course somewhere. I would like to take the chance to show people that they don't need expensive programs like photoshop, and also demonstrate at the same that most people needs can be met using Linux.

My "serious" cameras are Sonys but I don't see that the make is relevant or the Nikon v Canon v Sony v Pentax is applicable at the level I would be working at as it is likely that most people attending the course will have basic point and shoot cameras.

I use the gimp.

Depends what you want to do perhaps?

As a serious (and experienced) amateur photographer, I want to get more serious but at the same time avoid getting sucked into the photoshop swamp and remain loyal to Linux. I do though find Gimp to be a pain, just wondering if there are any viable alternatives to The Gimp and what any "serious photographers" here might be using?
