The shopping lens can  be uninstalled from the software centre.  There's also a menu option too in dash enter privacy on the screen that pops up deselect "Include online search results" and "Record activity".

But so what - you get a few ads (from which canonical get a few quid which helps them provide users with free software). 

Humans can exercise self control and not respond to ads if they don't want the items on offer.  Alternatively click on the ads and get Amazon to contribute to open software, there's no obligation to buy.

Sure, but Joe Bloggs will not know this, and it's unlikely to be well documented anyplace.

These things should be opt-in, anyone disagree ?
