Re: [LUG] Watching short videos

Not sure where to look, so some help needed please.

I often watch short videos on my desktop, usually information reports,
for example This Week in Linux or tutorials about some package that I am
researching eg kdenlive or Javascript.

Until just recently I have had no problems, I just start the video and
it runs smoothly with the download keeping well ahead of the playback.
Now I am finding that the download has become too slow. The effect is
that every few seconds playback pauses while some more is downloaded
then it starts again for a short while, then it pauses again. This can
happen about ten times a minute making it very difficult to follow the
thread.

Strangely if I look at some Youtube videos there is no problem. I see
the download line shooting far ahead of the playback marker. This is
both annoying and puzzling. Can anyone suggest where I might look please?

Thanks

Neil

It sounds like the server end is running slowly or your bandwidth is a bit clogged. Try downloading the whole thing if possible,
