Actually I could show you something a friend of mine rigged. It's a 9V battery attached to the power wire of the USB cable inside a mint tin!

I don't know if it would work though as I've not tried it recently, I'll bring it along!

Likewise with my "SuperPad" (rebadged Gome Flytouch II). I have tried
rigging my own cable to charge from USB - that is USB on one end and
the tablet's charging plug at the other. It kinda works, but claims to
only charge to 32% and then when you remove the plug... *puff* it
turns off as it hasn't actually been charging at all. :(
