I have always used my computers by turning them on at the beginning of a session and then turning them off at the end. Average two sessions a day. So far, touch wood, no problems, but who knows? It would seem rather a waste of power to keep it on all day when I am not using it for most of the time. I do keep the router on all the time because that is the advice from my broadband provider. And yes, I do have backups! Neil -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/listfaq
