I'm a bit late to contribute but when I needed graphics to plot
fractal sets I wrote a program in postscript -- which is a language
with commands for dots and lines. Later I used postscript to draw the
lines for a printed circuit board

I used to dabble with postscript way back - when we discovered that we could sent postscript directly to some printers to do funky stuff (like run mandelbrot programs on the apple printers that would take hours to run!) But it's just forth in another form ;-) I hate forth, but some some reason seem to have done a lot in it over the years starting with a package called "GraForth" on the Apple II and including porting Suns OBP written in forth to a new platform... Ugh!

Cheers,

Gordon
