Since there seems to be an ongoing interest in converting people to Linux I thought to suggest that the approach to the older members of the community needs to be different from how we work with the younger ones.And we do have quite a lot of choices of distro, both a blessing and a curse!!I would be interested in any feedback on this,
The one to use is the one you're prepared to give support on. So for me, it would be Debian.At the end of the day it's just the window manager really that they'll see, so pick one you like and stick to it. I'm sort of thinking I could get my wife to convert to XFCE4, but then the current implementation on Linux doesn't exactly make it easy to edit the menus if you need to - actually it's a royal PITA, however.
