It's rather hard to compare OSS with proprietary software in this
respect since proprietary "failures" can be easier to "disappear".
(Especially if only a few people ever knew it existed.) Where as OSS may
well be documented by a third party fairly early on in its development.
Possibly even before it has been determined if there is a "market" for
it. Proprietary software tends to do "market research" very differently.

In any case of broken links the best first action is to tell the whoever
runs the site which links are broken. If there is no obvious
contact information try webmaster@<domain>
