Re: [LUG] python versions

On my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, python v2 is available as python, python2, python2.6 and python2.5
If I installed python v3 of some sort then I would expect it to be there as python3

This is probably the case on all Debian derived systems but ISTR similar things on other Linux

I have both python v2 and python v3 installed. When I just type in 'python' into a terminal screen I get v2. I need to enter 'python3' to get the newer version. I seem to remember that there is a way to make the 'python' instruction find the newer version automatically.

Is my memory failing me or can anyone remind me how it is done please?

Thanks

Neil
