If your apt sources specify 'stable', then your system will be upgraded
to KDE4 as soon as you do your first 'apt-get upgrade' after the
Squeeze release - or as soon as you try to install any new KDE utility.
There are no core KDE 3 applications in Squeeze and any third-party KDE
stuff needs to work with KDE4 or it will be removed before Squeeze is
released. (AFAICT this step has already been accomplished.)

If you want to stay on KDE3 your only choice is Lenny (and changing
your apt sources to specify 'lenny') but be aware that as soon as
Squeeze is released, Lenny becomes oldstable and will disappear once
Debian starts the move to the release after Squeeze. (The first action
in preparing for a new Debian release is the removal of all packages
from oldstable - this has already been done for Squeeze, so there are
now no packages on the mirrors for Etch.)
