Fascinating - well, for me as a non web designer, anyway. I really am clueless when it comes to the nuts & bolts of css, etc. but I tried that example and got it to work after a fashion:

You dont need to employ font designers to make your web site 'pretty'.
You can make it stylish (ie offends 95% of users) but always do that AFTER you have a clean functional site/page. Style may impress but functionality amazes people - its so often lost in style its quite refreshing.
