[LUG] installing ubuntu + picking up existing /home/ directories

Hi

I have a 2nd hardisk which is about 40gb in size,(blank) my 1st harddisk
is about 60gb and currently has ubuntu 9.04 installed, this has a
separate /home partition

if I install 10.04 to the 2nd partition will it pick up my existing
/home accounts and allow me to keep all my work / settings etc,
(provided the related software is installed of course).

Just wondered, as I don't have an external hard disk to back stuff up to
yet. So doing this would be useful, I can then use my 1st hard disk
for data and wipe 9.04 bit and use it for something else, (more data
perhaps) and symlink it to a directory in /home/user/extra_space or
something.

I just want to know if it will pick up what i have.
