The laser is fine for some things, in particular it is far better for
desaturated pastels than many photographers think, and not bad for
monochrome, but it is not good for photographs of most things.
Lasers layer colour upon colour, inkjets intersperse and mix them.

They are very nice for the things they are good for.


A particular advantage of inks is that you can have specific ones, and
use 8 rather than the 3 colours plus black of the laser.  (I've not seen
a larger number of toners in a laser printer, yet)
