To be honest I think we're better off waiting till the server and monitors arrive for the LTSP installation. It could do with some proper cabling putting in too, maybe even wall sockets.-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 tom wrote:I have 3 * 17" and a 15" monitor up for grabs for this sort of thing. Also who wanted the 386 for serial port something or other as that 486 is available if its wanted for a doom server... I'm near Holsworthy and dont get out much tho... Tom te tom te tomI wonder if we could actually do the resurrection day at the light house, its currently closed for refurb so only open for rehersal or if we are doing work, Perhaps what we can do is set some more clients up, and see if we can build a server, or use a powerful PC as a server, then have a test run, so we all try and run open office, not sure if we can use the internet, unless we use a usb thingy wireless thing.
Depends on what spares there are. I've e-mailed Mark and Bryn about what we've done so far anyway.could work out further if we can leave spare parts people don't want at the venue so if computers break down we have a few spars to see if we can get them working again. We have 8 computers but only 4 work.
I'd say probably something at least along the lines of 10am to 4pm from experience of when I used to go to Barnstaple (let's just say, driving to Barnstaple from Exeter to just swap a hot swap hard drive is not my idea of fun, well it wouldn't be if it wasn't for the nice people up at Lantern FM... sorry, Heart North Devon.how many hours would such an event need to run for to justify the drive from north devon. or longer distances, I am aware that a 2 - 3 hour meeting doesn't justify a long long drive, but something like 11 - 3 or 4 would be a good few hours.
Let me know and I will see what I can arrange. if we also all chip in a little perhaps we can arrange coffee / tea to be provided, food may be extra, but if need be we can always bring food with us, like we do at the bbqs.
Might be worth speaking to Tyrone with regards to this. Otherwise maybe we can bring our own tea bags :-) Rob -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
