As far I am aware 'netbooks' still present the touchpad as a USB HID or PS2 'mouse'. If it's a bit too sensitive you could always play around with the mouse settings in yourÂxorg.conf or instal the synaptics touchpad tools - qsynaptics or gtksynaptics I think.
