Burned a DVD anyway and it noticed it was corrupt and wouldn't run!
One FF download got to 70% but the ADSL went down and that wouldn't restart
after that!
One Wget got to about 40% before crashing and then 'wget --continue' started
again from scratch! I'm now up to 45% after 4 restarts!

Hehe don't forget the acoustic couplers ;)

Im about 1/4 of the way through at the moment. Providing this comes
down ok, do you want to pop over and pick up a copy? You're not that
far from me iirc.

Thanks for the offer - wget --continue is working now* and I'm up to 84% so should be done in an hour. Or six! If the checksum is OK I'll burn a disk and have a play!

Why doesn't Ubuntu do what Debian does and release a "netist" disk - the Debian one is only 150MB or so. Everything else is pulled off the 'net as required, rather then download everything under the Sun, requiring GB of downloads, a DVD burner and more time...

Then they could have one 'base' release with the various flavours 'Studio', etc. as package suggestions to be loaded after you've got the basics...
