Have a look at wondershaper: a script to do traffic shaping using iptables. The idea is really to keep the connection responsive while downloading but I'd expect that to include prioritising DNS too.does anyone know of any way to prioritize DNS traffic on a Linux server, running SLES 11? That is, to make sure that when the bandwidth is fully used, DNS request (to an external DNS server) don't take longer than usual? Being able to do that would make my life a whole lot easier...
As Simon suggested, DNS caching would help too. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
