You obviously have no formal IT training - its not about software its about
revenue streams. MS like you to pay some £2.5k for a week to be show where
they've moved the icons and how they've rearranged the menus, and if there
are any another £2.5k for a week straining (sic) to understand the benefits
of new features.
Now you may guess why there is such resistance to moving to Linux despite the
the obvious benefits: every couple of years a companies IT guru will get
three or four weeks 'training' away at a hotel somewhere.
You get an operating system that works 'out of the box' then you have to spend
too much time in the office listening to managers make ridiculous 'IT'
requests. Its worth making up 'operational advantages' of sticking with MS
just to get away from these muppets especially as if you can actually do
something with a computer these people make your life hell once they realise
you can replace them with four lines of code and they realise they're higher
up the company food chain than you are.
Its much easier to give them their pretty (useless) documents and live the
quiet life than actually try and make computers work for the company, and if
they dont give you the training then well you really do need it for this
release....
