Hello I would like to extract some sound from a couple of Youtube .flv downloads to make a short 2 min dance piece for my daughter's gcse. I had a look at clive (in a ubuntu repository) but what I understand from the man page is that it is just recoding to another video standard. This might mean that with your help I can then run it into audacity and turn it into a mp3 for any old school computer or put it on a cd for her. The only other way I have seen that might work if the server wasn't so overloaded is vixy.com. There is a free converter to mpeg4 from this lot but again I'd need help - like, can audacity import mpeg4? I'd also have to build from source which is something I haven't done. Please advise. PS On some sites with FF in kubuntu 64 bit I get a tiny blank window in the centre of the screen. vixy is one of them I suppose I just wait until the next batch of updates? It works with 32 bit.
