| Hi, I wonder whether anyone can help with a couple of
questions... I am currently switching from Windows to Ubuntu
7.10 using KDE Desktop - The system is installed fine and working (with my
wireless USB Adapter as well which well impressed me considering all the scare
stories I'd heard) but my first problem is I am having trouble bringing over my
mail. I am sharing one disk between Windows and Ubuntu
but when I go into Konquerer I can't seem to see my Windows Drive (SDA if
memory serves me right?). I can map to Remote Drives etc via SAMBA but
thought that local drives would be visible straight from the File
Manager? Do I have to Mount the drive before I see it (to be
honest I thought KDE would have done this automatically, my CD-Drives etc all
seem to be mounted) and if so is it something I can do with the GUI or do I have
to get down and dirty in Terminal? My second query is a little more esoteric - I have
three screens attached via three graphics cards but can't seem to get the two
secondary monitors working (they all work fine under Windows). I have checked
the Hardware and all three cards are registered and when I go into Screen
Management it seems to suggest that the three monitors can be configured (unless
I am getting confused with multiple Desktops, I get three Screen 1's) but when I
try and set one of the others to the Monitor and Resolution the system won't let
me - Could this be a driver issue or is there something I need to do in the
Video Config files (sorry can't remember the name XCONF is it?). Thanks in advance for any help you can
give. Regards, Dave (An absolute Linux newbie) |
