from the bottom of a cupboard I have excavated a compaq LTE Lite 4/25 series 2810H. This is a very early laptop. It consists of a docking station and a slide in laptop unit. It runs windows 3.1 and appears to have 8091 or something HD. Googling this it does seem that it may still be useful. The docking station will take an ethernet card, early linux's can be installed (there are a couple of sites abou t doing this) etc.. I am pretty surprised at how quick 3.1 was compared to today's bloatware (windoze is the slowest but our beloved gnomes and kde's ain't that much better.) Mind you this software does very little compared to todays stuff. I'd be tempted to leave 3.1 and all the lotus 123, win sock, netscape etc software on it as an historical record. It has a lot of period software on it. Anyhow getting to the point, although its nice to muck about with it (just about to stick the 57k modem onto it) I have no real use for this historically interesting piece of tech and it'll probably get binned eventually. Does anyone collect this stuff? If you do and you can collect it is yours! If you'd like photos of it mail me off list. Be a shame to bin this I think....
