sun has a plugin that can save MSoffice files in ODF format.tp://www.sun.com/software/star/openoffice/ down the page a bit Has anyone tried it - no M$ office here thanks? Is it easy to scrip - ie can you get Office to relatively easily convert whole trees of office files automatically? Does anyone know of a bitmap comparator - ie: In M$ Office and take office file (A) and generate ODF version (B) and print to a bitmap (C). take (B) into Open Office and print to a bitmap (D). Compare (XOR* to E) C and D and check any residue/differences. It should be possible to find come software (easy to write) that takes E and does a quality check on it - ie looks for regions bigger than (say) 2 pixels square and flags as necessary. With this working an organisation could automatically convert all documents to ODF with a high leveel of confidence. Tom te tom te tom * XOR of two images reveals the difference between them - ie where there is print in one but not the other. -- The Mailing List for the Devon & Cornwall LUG http://mailman.dclug.org.uk/listinfo/list FAQ: http://www.dcglug.org.uk/linux_adm/list-faq.html
