When I was at plymuff we got to play with the Sun terminals, and Linux PCs - that was the Computer Systems & Networks degree in the mid/late 90s - one module (Distributed Computing iirc) was very UNIX oriented, and the network programming module was all on Linux. Of course it was termisoc (the UPSU computing society) that got me into UNIX, Linux and FL/OSS.
