This my sound obvious and silly, but Ubuntu has firefox installed by default. Look under the applications menu and internet. Sorry if that's obvious and you already did that! If it isn't installed and you want to use a graphical system to install it, with the official repositories as described above, go to the system menu at the top, then select administration and then "Synaptic package manager". Once that's loaded you can search for any package you're interested in and just right click it and select "install", then press the apply button and it will download and install it for you automatically!
